Lakeside Charm 

Located along a winding forested lane just outside of Victoria, this lakefront property was a dream home in the making for this active family of four and their large dog, relocating from big-city life in Vancouver. 

With the promise of connecting with nature, kayaking and summer dips off the dock, this project was created with functionality, longevity and durability at the helm, fused with casual, timeless sophistication. 

Jenny Martin Design used a soft, neutral palette and natural wood tones to create a bright Scandinavian aesthetic. Durable finishes were essential for this busy young household, and storage and flow was prioritized throughout the design process.

The aim was to streamline the aesthetic and add visual interest by playing with scale, balance and materials — like brass fixtures that will patina with time, and durable cabinetry finished in a bleached walnut to compliment the scheme. Display areas act as features, high-end appliances offer modern convenience and strategic storage keeps everything in order. 

The effect is a refined, yet youthful modern lake home, fusing luxury with active living.
