Edge

Origami By The Sea

Nestled within a tree line overlooking the Pacific ocean, the design of this 4,000-square-foot Cadboro Bay house required ingenuity. This home, perched on an unusually triangular lot, earned the nickname “Edge” from its origami-like architecture.

Jenny Martin Design focused on capturing the views of Cadboro Bay, and softening the acoustics of the building to turn this house into a west coast sanctuary. With two storeys, a floating walkway and full beach views, this home draws on its connection to the land and sea.

The contemporary design utilizes rich materials, like Hakwood oak floors, exposed beams and polished concrete, along with smokey tones to create an industrial, coastal aesthetic.

Ample natural lighting and open-concept rooms enhance the home’s zen quality, with simple and dramatic details — like a freestanding soaker tub, single-slab marble shower and custom wine cellar.

The effect: a calming, visual masterpiece from the inside, out.
