Timeless Elegance
This elegant house, located in Victoria’s historic Uplands neighbourhood, was originally designed in 1907 by architect John Olmsted. The manor is surrounded by sprawling gardens, ornate lamp posts and neighbouring estates.
To bring a Belgian aesthetic to the home, Jenny Martin Design worked with the clients to create an interior that honoured the house’s history, while drawing on feminine, soft motifs; moving away from heavy beams and dark corners.
Natural tones and textures — from linens to velvets — were utilized to brighten the space, and special touches like Miele and Wolfe appliances and Samuel Heath bathroom fixtures add contemporary convenience. The team offered professional guidance to ensure a seamless, high-quality delivery. Traditional construction techniques were used for the classic elements of the house, from custom character mouldings with shoe moulds and wainscoting, to coffered ceilings, face-frame cabinetry, marble countertops and a period gas-ignite fireplace.
The result is an elegant twist on the traditional manor home, fusing bright warmth with classic structure.
